Inception:Dream within reality or vice versa

 

"Within us is an intense ,intriguing, and intricate maze of energy and thoughts.Within us is an entirely different universe where the natural laws are bizarre and different than reality"

Plot:

Our protagonist,Cobb(played by Leonardo Dicaprio) is an extremely adroit idea extractor and manipulator.He uses his skill to enter into people's mind while their subconscious' defence is down and then does whatever he wants.He has dissolved many corporate giants and has given rise to many other corporations by using his hack.

The plot takes and abrupt turn when Saito,owner of a major energy firm offers Cobb an offer.A choice which could permanently free him from the legal bondages and warrants if he chooses to accept it and then can execute it perfectly.

INCEPTION

or in other words,Cobb has to implant an idea into Saito's formidable business foe,Fischer which will lead the latter to liquefy the whole of his business empire.A seemingly impossible task because the  "SUBJECT'S MIND CAN ALWAYS TRACK THE ORIGIN OF THE IDEA."

Despite the very possibility of the impossibility of the project and the firm denial from his team members, Cobb decides to accept the offer, in the hope of reuniting with his children.He hires a dextrous dream architect,Ariadne,and the highly creative and eccentric forger Eames (played by Tom Hardy).

But in order to plant the seed of a specific idea into a subject's mind,one has to plant it deep enough so that the person can't track the origin of the idea.So ,Cobb and his team decided to go deep into Fischer's SUBCONSCIOUS,in other words within an impregnable three level dream state.

FIRST LEVEL DREAM :

At the very first level,they realised that Fischer had his intuitions militarized against foreign intruders.Circumstances get bitter further when Saito gets shot.Disregarding all the turnmoil and unfavourable atmosphere,Cobb leads his team into  the second level dream state.The worst that could happen is someone of them dies in his dream and than gets into an infinite paradox of  dream state as he/she wouldn't be able to wake up owing to the strong nature of the sedative used upon them prior to entering this project.

At the end of the first level Eames had gained Fischer's trust by camouflaging himself as the latter's  uncle Peter.

SECOND LEVEL DREAM STATE:

At the second level, Cobb successfully initiates a friendly conversation with Fischer and convinces him that he was his ally.He assured Fischer that HE IS WITHIN A DREAM AND THAT THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM ARE TRYING TO EXTRACT SOMETHING FROM HIS MIND. IN THAT WAY,HE TURNED FISCHER AGAINST HIS OWN SUBCONSCIOUS. MEANWHILE FISCHER'S OWN  PROJECTION OF HIS UNCLE (PETER) IS BEING MISINTERPRETED AS THE ONE WHO IS TRYING TO BREAK THROUGH THE FORMER'S SUBCONSCIOUS BY COBB.IN THAT MANNER FISCHER IS CONVINCED THAT HIS UNCLE BETRAYED HIM AND THAT HE IS TRYING TO OBTAIN THE PASSWORD THAT WILL UNLOCK THE SAFE CONTAINING THE ALTERNATE WILL.

FISCHER DECIDES TO GO INTO THE SUBCONSCIOUS OF HIS UNCLE AFTER BEING PERSUADED BY COBB . WELL, IN REALITY HE WAS EXPOSING HIS OWN UNDEFENDED SUBCONSCIOUS TO COBB AND HIS TEAM THUS EXPOSING HIS MIND VULNERABLE TO 'INCEPTION' 

THIRD LEVEL DREAM STATE:

At the very beginning of the third level , the intruders are struck with a thorny issue due to abrupt change in the circumstances in the second level.Due to that,time alloted to each  of the dream state decreases substantially.And secondly out of their utter dismay,MAL,Cobb's dead wife sprouts out as Cobb's projection.The sudden commitment of her suicide had left Cobb numb and owing to her complex,and dominant nature ,she frequently used to invade Cobb's mind in his dream.She desperately wanted to get lost in LIMBO with her husband ,but Cobb had forced her to come back to reality.

She doesn't miss this GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY and she kills Fischer and takes him down in Limbo so that Cobb is forced to come after her.

               FOURTH LEVEL DREAM STATE:

Cobb takes Ariadne with him down into the fourth level in order to find Mal and Fischer.HE FINDS THE TWO.COBB REALIZES THAT SAITO WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD OWING TO THE BLEEDING.SO DECIDES TO STAY WITH MAL IN THAT LIMBO IN THE BLEAK HOPE OF FINDING SAITO AND DRAG HIM BACK TO REALITY WHERE HE CAN HONOUR THEIR DEAL.

Meanwhile Ariadne wakes up Fischer from death by providing a kick in the fourth level dream state.

Fisher gets into the alternate will which has been designed by Ariadne .He is acknowledged of the fact that his father wants him to do something by his ownself rather than feeding upon his corporation .

At the end , Fischer is convinced that he would do something for his ownself and would would let his father's empire get dissolved.

                                  Cobb's mission is accomplished.But is Cobb their to savour the taste of his accomplishment???

No He is down there in the Limbo trying to find Saito.By a bit of Luck and by the gift of his instinct ,he eventually finds Saito , an old and withered man trapped down in the heinous abyss.His own memory is tumbled down and torned apart.But Saito gives him a taste of reminiscence.They both remind themself of the reality and they come back together.

                                             Cobb reunites with his children.

Since it is fiction story there are many unexplained theories.But the main question that still clings is that whether Cobb really met his children in reality at the end Or Whether HE WAS DOWN THEIR IN ANOTHER LIMBO????
